I wrote and designed this developmental edit project in my TECM 5195 Technical Editing course. The project began with gathering 7 Wikipedia entries on a central topic, then developing and structurally editing the content for cohesion, style, and tone.
I chose the topic of rhetoric and composition, selecting entries that provided an overview of the history and trends in the field. For the final product, I designed the edited content in InDesign and Acrobat, adding Photoshopped images, headers, and navigation. As a final step, I wrote a letter of transmittal outlining and justifying my editorial changes (linked above). Sample two-page spreads from the finished 50-page reference document are below.
