Academic & Public Writing
This collection is an assortment of publications in various genres: an academic book chapter, an op-ed, and a content strategy blog. These writing samples offer a glimpse into the breadth of my writing interests.
My book chapter is part of Parenting While PhDing, a interdisciplinary collection on the scholarship and experiences of doctoral student parents, edited by Jackie Hoermann-Elliott and Jenna Morton-Aiken and published by Rutgers University Press. My chapter, "Leverage Your Assets: How Parenting Shapes (and Benefits) Our Scholarly Identities," is a collaborative piece I co-authored with two other scholars.
"A Disability Shouldn't Feel Like a Death Sentence" was featured in The Dallas Morning News in August 2023. The piece addresses controversial findings on the growing rates of physician-assisted suicide among individuals with autism and developmental disorders, and discusses broader issues of disability advocacy and inclusion.
"Writing Syzygy: Creative Reflections on Technical Writing" is a series of blog posts I wrote during my Content Strategy course at UNT. I share my perspectives on content strategy as a creative writer just beginning her journey into technical communications.
